SERC/LEPC NET

Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPCs) are appointed by the State Emergency Response Commissions (SERCs). LEPCs must consist of representatives of all of the following groups and organizations:

elected and local officials;
law enforcement;
civil defense;
firefighting;
first aid;
health;
local environmental and transportation agencies;
hospitals;
broadcast and print media;
community groups; and
representatives of facilities subject to the emergency planning and community right-to-know requirements.

Our Mission

To enhance the protection of the citizens of McDowell County  and the environment from hazardous materials incidents through planning, preparation and communication between citizens, business and government and to provide an avenue for the public to obtain information about the hazardous materials located in their communities.
